The Houston Mutiny & Riot Records

The Houston Mutiny & Riot Records

The mutiny and riot of African American soldiers that occurred on August 23rd, 1917 at a WWI training camp in Houston, TX, resulted in the largest murder trial in American history. In total 118 soldiers were tried, 110 soldiers were convicted, 19 soldiers were executed, and 91 were sentenced to various terms of confinement. South Texas and the NAACP have joined together to petition the government for clemency on behalf of these soldiers.

STCL Houston Catalogs

Historic Catalog & Yearbooks Collection

Originally named the South Texas School of Law, the evolution of the College can be seen in our catalogs. There are the obvious changes, such as tuition increases, the name change, and our separation from the YMCA. Then there are the less obvious ones: our growth and development, hiring of full-time faculty, and having classes during the day. What has remained constant is the dedication to legal education, our students, and our community.

Rooftop Garden & Garden Gnome

The Library’s rooftop terrace is home to a community garden and Oliver Wendell Gnome. Oliver first came to the Library to oversee the garden. His role has since expanded, however, and is now the (not so) unofficial Library mascot He appears in promotional materials, showcases Library resources, and is a rising social media star.

Texas Rules of Civil Procedure

The Library maintains an historical record of all of the Texas Rules of Civil Procedure.
Find all versions since Sept. 1, 1941 to date.
