South Texas College of Law Houston’s Student Bar Association continued the decade-long tradition of serving as the largest academic contributor to the ABC13’s Share Your Holidays 2021 food drive, benefiting the Houston Food Bank.
When the drive officially ended Dec. 4, the STCL Houston community had raised $21,024 from 387 contributors, and donated more than 225 pounds of food.
Because $1 provides three meals, the South Texas community helped provide more than 63,000 meals to people in need this holiday season.
“This was a successful SBA group effort, and I am so proud of our team and the South Texas community,” said 2L Javon Cole, SBA vice president. “We especially want to thank everyone who contributed to the food drive. The goal was to help feed the hungry, and that’s exactly what we did! I am proud to be a student at South Texas.”
Cole presented a check live on ABC13 last week, and was interviewed about the project. He noted how much South Texas students love to give back to the community.
