Five new faculty members joined South Texas College of Law Houston’s teaching roster this fall. These legal experts bring experience and knowledge that complement the law school’s current, distinguished faculty.

“We are delighted to welcome these exceptional legal scholars to our faculty,” said President and Dean Michael F. Barry. “Their diverse backgrounds and areas of expertise align well with our mission and our commitment to providing an outstanding legal education and preparing our students for the ever-evolving legal profession.”

 

Claire Andresen, an accomplished prosecutor, has been appointed as a visiting assistant professor at STCL Houston. Andresen spent two years as assistant general counsel for a large public school district and a decade as a successful assistant district attorney – working first in Harris County and then in Fort Bend County. Andresen brings a depth of knowledge to her new role teaching criminal law.

 

 

 

Christina Crozier, an expert in appellate law with a passion for teaching, comes to STCL Houston as a visiting assistant professor of legal research and writing. Before coming to South Texas Law, Crozier practiced for 17 years in the appellate practice group of Haynes Boone. She is board certified in civil appellate law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization and has been recognized by Texas Super Lawyers and Best Lawyers in America in the area of appeals. Crozier has chaired the Appellate Practice Section of the Houston Bar Association and regularly speaks at Texas Bar CLE courses.

 

 

 

Maureen Duffy is serving a visiting professor of law at STCL Houston. Most recently, she was an associate professor at the University of Calgary in Alberta, Canada. Before becoming an educator, Duffy was a litigator in private practice in Chicago, Illinois. She went on to hold positions in both the trial and appellate divisions of the Office of the Cook County Public Guardian, and also served as an administrator and attorney for the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services.

 

 

 

 

Thomas Hogan, a former chief prosecutor from Chester County, Pennsylvania, joins STCL Houston as a visiting assistant professor. After practicing law at a major international law firm and litigation boutique, he served as a federal prosecutor for the U.S. Department of Justice. Twice elected to serve as the district attorney in Chester County, Hogan also chaired the Liberty Mid-Atlantic HIDTA and coordinated drug law enforcement for state and local organizations across a three-state area. He obtained his Master of Science degree in criminology from the University of Pennsylvania, and he has taught lawyers, law students, and graduate students from various disciplines in multiple subjects, including criminal procedure, trial advocacy, ethics, officer-involved shootings, and statistical problems.

 

 

 

Emilio Longoria, born and raised in Houston, is a civil litigator specializing in cases involving eminent domain proceedings and property law disputes. He is Of Counsel at Marrs, Ellis, & Hodge LLP in Houston. Longoria joins STCL Houston as an assistant professor of law. He has taught at Cristo Rey Jesuit College Preparatory School, worked in the Texas Legislature, and clerked for U.S. District Court Judge George C. Hanks, Jr. of the Southern District of Texas. Longoria is a member of the Texas Bar College, and he serves on the Board of Directors for the Galveston County Bar Association
