Getting to Know The Library
The Fred Parks Law Library is your resource for information, a place to study, a place to print, and a place to learn. The Library provides books and over 50 database platforms. There are 59 study rooms — 40 of which can be reserved — and numerous study carrels and tables. The Librarians provide research workshops and informational sessions to increase your ability to take full advantage of the Library’s resources while you are a student and when you become an alumnus.
Did You Know?
- Cold, odor-free, and quiet food is allowed in the Library. Please report messes immediately.
- The ultra-quiet floors are the first, fourth, and fifth floors.
- No tobacco or vaping in the Library. There is an outdoor space on the sixth floor for these activities.
- You must have your Student ID to check out materials from the Library.
- White board markers and monitor cords are available at the Patron Services Desk.
- There is a suggestion box on the second floor by the puzzle, coloring station, and chess sets.
Helpful Resources
- A reference librarian can be contacted by email or phone (713-646-1712) or via chat or in person, at the Reference Desk, or by appointment.
- Library hours are posted on signs on the Patron Services Desk, by the elevators at the entrance, on STANLEY, and on the website. Note the difference between access and service hours.
- STELLA is the tool to use to determine if the Library has a resource electronically or in paper.
- If the Fred Parks Law Library doesn’t have an item you need, it can be requested from another library through a Reference Librarian or BLANCHE.

Don’t Forget!
- Research workshops will be offered for first semester students soon, check the Library page on STANLEY for exact dates and times.
- The Study Guide Event is scheduled for August 31st and September 1st – Great prizes for those who attend one of the sessions! The Library has many study guides (print or electronic), but no case/text books.
- The Study Room policies and room reservations system. Here is a short video showing how to use the system. Study rooms are not soundproof.
- There are no refunds for user print errors. There are no refunds for unused funds in your print account:
- Using WebPrint from your Device
- Add credit to PaperCut (Print Account)
- Requesting printer refunds for printer malfunctions
